It’s Thursday, April 16 and we just spent the last 6 days on vacation! Last week Lacie suggested we go visit my grandparents (aka “Nana & Papa”) and also go to the beach. So I called them and found out it was their 52nd wedding anniversary and they were headed to Lincoln City for the weekend! We asked if they wanted to just meetup at Lincoln City and they said they’d love to.

So I got all my important work done early last Friday and then we packed up and headed to the beach. It was a 2-hour drive and we arrived in Lincoln City around 4:00 p.m.. Loretta, Henry and Gunner came down with us too. And we all stayed in a little beach house Lacie found on VRBO. Here are some pics:

After our 3 nights were up we packed up the minivan and started heading home. But after about 30 minutes in we started talking about extending our vacation and just driving over to Bend.It started off kind of as a joke but then soon enough I was on Airbnb and VRBO looking for places to rent in Bend and Sunriver. We came to the point where we had to either turn off to go to Bend or keep going home. I thought about what projects I had to do for work that week and decided I could just do some writing in the mornings and get what I needed to get done. So we decided to head to Central Oregon spur of the moment!

We found a place in Bend online that was cheap and went there first. But when we got there it was pretty run down. So we decided to call the property management people and let them know we wanted to switch places (they had a nicer place in Sunriver). So we left that place and drove down to Sunriver. Oh, and we picked up my sister Sarah on the way through Bend so she got to stay with us too!

We got to our place and spent 3 fun days and nights in Sunriver. I woke up early and drove to the local Starbucks to get some work done before the family woke up. Then I spent the rest of the day just hanging out with the family. One of the best parts was letting Emma ride her bike around the trails in Sunriver. She had a blast!

After this trip I want to take more spontaneous trips (I’m a big planner so I think I could use some more spontenatiety in my life!). Here’s some pics from Sunriver (we were having so much fun I forgot to take more):
