On 11/12/15 we bought our first motorhome, a 2007 Four Winds Hurricane!
Traveling the country in an RV has been a dream of ours for some time. So we’re pretty excited to finally have one!
Right now we’re on our first trip. The pictures below are from the campsite we were at yesterday, Columbia Riverfront RV Park in Woodland, WA.
It was only about 20 mins from our house in Ridgefield but we figured we’d stay close since it’s our first time out. Our plan is to take a couple local trips before we head out on the road for a longer trip!
The weather was kind of rainy but it cleared up a little yesterday… but we still had a blast! Lacie made some great sandwiches for dinner and then we ate twizzlers and watched Elf on all 3 TVs at the same time.
I had a little bit of work to do so I spent about 2 hours writing some marketing emails for one of my partners (I’m also experimenting with working on the road because I’d really like to see us try to see if we could “full-time” this RV thing soon!).
The kids love camping and Emma especially loves her top bunk (which Lily is always trying to climb up). We setup 2 pack and plays in the bedroom so Lily and Benji slept in that room with us while Emma slept on her bunk.
We checked out at 11:30 yesterday and originally were just going to go home… but we didn’t want to! We were having so much fun we decided to extend our trip one more day. So we stopped at Safeway, ate lunch, got some more supplies and googled some other local RV parks.
First we drove to a place called Brookhollow in Kelso but decided to go elsewhere because there wasn’t much of a scenery there. We ended up at Silver Cove RV Resort in Silverlake, WA (which is where I’m writing this now).
The office was closed but a sign said to go to Site#3 for “after hours checkins”. So I pulled up and met the park managers, a nice couple named RJ and Shirley. They were really friendly and I found out that they just got into RVing 3 years ago when they sold their house and farm in Missouri and decided to full-time it. I told him we were considering the same thing so we had a good talk about RV stuff and lifestyle.
It’s rainy and windy out right now. And we just found out our hot water isn’t working. It was working last night so we’re troubleshooting now. But we’re excited to be camping… now we don’t ever want to go home.

Great blog! LOVE your pictures as well!!
It looks like such a great time…..wish we were camping near you! (Maybe some day, huh?) 😀
Enjoy!
Wish you guys were here too!! Looking forward to visiting you in Michigan sometime this next year!
That looks awesome… got me thinking I might need one too…
You’d probably love it Kalon! And since you can work remotely too it’d be a great thing to try out.
